Technics used to make the ADMIRADOR GOLDEN L wall lamp
Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable or food dyes in cauldrons.
The outer brass wall support has been crafted using a traditional lost wax technic in Kumasi, Ghana. The mould is made from wax and then covered in dung and earth and left to dry. The melted recycled brass melts the wax and takes it's place. Magic!
The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes.
This lamp is takes around 2 days to weave.

To own one of our table lamps, is to encourage the modernisation of a wonderful tradition, inspiring and supporting the weaving communities by introducing their art to the contemporary design world.
Please do not forget that this lamp is woven by hand and the slight differences in shape and colour are completely normal. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or hanging in a hot humid room in front of a window. The colours are natural and may fade if hung in direct sunlight.
