The natural woven structure is enhanced with stripes of inky black (measuring 15cm x 28cm), it is refined with twisted cables and brass fixtures.
Description of the woven wall lamp LANTERN
The lamp was designed in our studio by Sara Efia Reddin, the contemporary shape and detailing elevates a timeless artisanal traditional to create an inspiring decorative object.
This natural woven wall lantern is woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. The delicate open weave stripes spread light patterns across walls. The lamp is assembled with care to order in our workshop with satin brass fixtures, twisted cable, certified electrics.
Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This beautiful Wall lamp is magnificent next to your bed, in a living room or along a hallway.
Technics used to make the Lantern wall lamp
Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable or food dyes in cauldrons.
The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes.
This lamp is takes around a day to weave.

Please note : we recommend, using a LED bulb max. 8w
Please do not forget that this lamp is woven by hand and the slight differences in shape and colour are completely normal. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or hanging in a hot humid room in front of a window. The colours are natural and may fade if hung in direct sunlight.
